KADAPA
Kadapa distrct is located in the southern part of Andra Pradesh. It is part of Rayalaseema region of Andra pradesh. Cuddapah basin has been well known for a variety of mineral resources, such as barytes(famously mangampeta berieties), asbestos, copper, iron, fullerene, lead, diamonds, uranium, gold, silver, limestone(Mydukuru and jammalamadugu variety), clay, quartz, talc-steatite, granites besides Cuddapah slabs.
The forest area in Kadapa district is 5,050 km². It is 32.87% of the district area. The forests of the district are of a dry deciduous type. The deciduous forests are very open and have a luxuriant undergrowth of grass. They are mainly situated on the principal hill ranges, namely, the Veligonda, Seshachalam, Palkonda, Lankamalai and Nallamalai hills. The dominant and most valuable tree is Pterocarpiis santalinus (Red sanders– yerra Chandanam).
The religious and historical significance of kadapa can be inferrred from the famous temples, mousques and the majestic forts. the major temples in the kadapa are Devuni kadapa, pushpagiri, vontimitta,brahmam gari mattam. the .world famous dargah that is ameen peer dargh (locaaly called pedda dargha) is located in kadapa. The historical significance of the district can be attributed to the famous forts of gandikota, sidhdhavatam.
The rich cultural significance of kadapa can be understtod from the language,customs, quisines and attire. The people in this region speak ralayalaseema mandavikam which is a variety of telugu dialect and urdu also famous here.famous quisines in the region are chennuru Biryani, karam dosa with yerra chekni,ragi sangati with pulusu, uggani with bajji etc. the people in this region are spice lovers.the routine attire include punche, lundi with shirt and for women it is wearing a sari.Because of harmonial living of different religious populations that is hinndu, muslim, christrian etc. here there is a rich cultural harmony.
